Edunova's "Quickstart" model
A two term training and facilitation
programme to ensure maximum use of a school's
computer lab
- 2 schools for 2 consecutive terms
- Edunova facilitator in each school for an average of 2,5
full days per week
- Edunova to train a teaching assistant for the term by
allowing them to shadow the Edunova facilitator
Deliverables
1. e-Educators
Educators should be able to demonstrate proficiency in and
examples of personal files created using the following
applications or lab hardware:
- Word Processor (3 weeks): e.g. class test or lesson
planning document
- Spreadsheets (3 weeks): e.g. class list or mark sheet
- Presentations (3 weeks): e.g. a set of slides that could
be used to deliver a lesson
- Internet & Email (2 weeks)
2. Cascade skills training by ICT champions
By the end of the programme, the champions should have a
clear understanding of:
- What and how they plan to cascade train their colleagues
- Educationally aligned exercises that will be used such as
those outlined in deliverable 1
3. e-Curriculum delivery
All educators will have been:
- Familiarised with the relevant Department of Education eSchool
documentation
- Trained in the use of NetOps, an administration and laboratory
management tool
- Be confident in the use of curriculum software such as CAMI or
Computers 4 Kids
- Taught basic ICT room techniques when delivering lessons to
learners
- Taken through a number of facilitated curriculum delivery
sessions with their learners
- Trained in the use of a scanner
4. Computer laboratory administration and scheduling
All educators should be:
- Familiarised with the processes and procedures involved in
managing the lab and trained in the effective use of the file
used to record activity and issues
- Logging their use of the lab on a daily basis
- Have their classes scheduled within the computer lab timetable
5. e-Learners
Edunova and the school will agree on:
- Which learners are to receive priority during the training
period
- Whether there should be a focus on one or more educational
phases
