| The Learning Centre |
For all those wonderful individuals and partners who have joined forces in supporting Edunova to develop The Learning Centre, this is a brief update on where we stand since the start of the project.
A wonderful piece of news is that
Uniforum SA in partnership with NetDay has donated the technology for the IT training room! This is a major contribution and we are very grateful to them for their support, enthusiasm and expertise.I would also like to acknowledge the massive contribution made by The Content Company who enabled us to have the confidence to take the first step in getting The Learning Centre going. The funds and the Streetwise information terminals that they are able to bring into the realms of education are really exciting – hopefully one day when you visit the centre you will experience first-hand what these are all about.
While everyone has enjoyed the holiday period and the festivities over Christmas, work on The Learning Centre has continued. The contractor has demolished internal walls, bricked up gaps, inserted windows and built up a few dry walls and we are almost finished with the major works. What will emerge, even though a little ‘murky’ at this stage are 5 different areas:
The next phase of development, currently underway, includes putting in flooring (tiles and carpets), installation of strong worktops for the various areas, one or two more dry walls and the installation of the kitchen and a slight improvement to the unisex cloakroom (a first for Philippi!). The final stages will involve a painting and decorating process as well as the erection of signage so that The Learning Centre reflects what it is all about.
Please continue to advocate and think about how you or your small, or large, business might like to be involved in The Learning Centre. The Learning Centre is located within the large and lovely community of Philippi, just outside of Cape Town and the hundreds of thousands living in the area are always keen to support new innovations and services. The Learning Centre, once up and running, will be looking to offer a range of services so that a truly sustainable hub is created. Yes, funds are always needed but so are skills and support, so any input, words of encouragement and business wisdom are most welcome.
Thank you so much for the support and interest you have provided so far.
